Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD/TMJ)

Pain or tenderness in the face, jaw joint area, neck or shoulders, and in or around the ear when you chew, speak open or are just resting your jaw are common symptoms of Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction.

Patients often seek care for the above symptoms with their medical doctor or other health care practitioners for headaches, migraines, neck aches and regretfully no cause of the pain is determined.

A dental and Temporomandibular exam is recommended to diagnose and evaluate if your headaches or symptoms are TMJ related and treatable.

Treatment: an "orthotic bite splint" is recommended along with specific jaw exercises and muscle relaxing supplements from our office.

In most cases 80% of a diagnosed and treated patients symptoms (headache, neck ache, etc.) are eliminated within 30 days of recommended treatment.
